Lifelines is a family reminders app that helps you remember birthdays, anniversaries and other life dates, and see the time passing for the people who matter to you. Lifelines is a product of Araft (araft.co) ("Araft", "we", "us"), which develops and publishes the app. This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have.
The details you add: The heart of Lifelines is the information you enter: names, birthdays and anniversaries, relationships, gender, optional photos, life events and notes. This content is stored on your device in the app's local database. It is not uploaded to us.
Your account (sign-in): To secure your data and enable backup, you sign in with Google or an email and password through Firebase Authentication (a Google service). This handles your email address and a unique account identifier for the sole purpose of signing you in. We do not receive your Google password.
Google Drive backup (optional): If you turn on Google Drive backup, a copy of your Lifelines data is saved to a private "app data" folder in your own Google Drive. This folder is hidden and accessible only to Lifelines using the drive.appdata permission. It does not give the app access to the rest of your Drive, and the backup is never stored on our servers or seen by us.
On-device file backups (optional): "Save to this device" writes a dated backup file into your phone's Downloads › Lifelines › Backups folder. That file stays on your device and is under your control.
Contacts (optional): If you choose to import birthdays from your contacts, the app reads your contacts on your device to let you pick who to add. Contacts are not sent to us or any third party.
Notifications: Reminders are scheduled as local notifications on your device. You can pick a custom alarm sound; the app reads your device's available ringtones so you can choose one.
Purchases: Optional subscriptions (Plus / Pro) are processed by Google Play Billing. Payment is handled entirely by Google. We never see your card or payment details, only whether an entitlement is active.
Information is used only to make the app work for you:
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or resale, and we do not build a profile of you across other apps or services.
Lifelines relies on a small number of Google services to function. Your use of them is also covered by Google's own privacy policy:
See the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy) for how Google handles data in these services.
Data on your device can be protected with an in-app PIN or your phone's biometric lock. Sign-in and Drive backup use Google's encrypted, industry-standard connections. No method of storage or transmission is ever completely secure, but we design Lifelines to keep your data on your device and in your own accounts wherever possible.
Lifelines is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Lifelines after an update means you accept the revised policy.
